In a significant stride towards eradicating child malnutrition, the Children’s First One Thousand Days Coalition (CFDC) is unveiling its operations manual and training program today. Aligned with RA 11148, the “Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng Magnanay Acť,” this initiative brings together influential organizations such as Rotary International, Lions Clubs International, and World Vision Philippines.
This collaborative effort, with a thousand leaders from diverse NGOs, signifies a pivotal moment in addressing malnutrition issues during a child’s first thousand days. The comprehensive manual outlines step-by-step procedures for NGOs to adopt barangays, extending its impact nationally. This strategic approach aims to combat malnutrition’s adverse effects, including poor school performance and stunting, fostering a healthier future for Filipino children.
Department secretaries Dr. Teodoro “Ted” J. Herbosa and Atty. Benjamin “Benhur” C. Abalos, Jr., along with Atty. Baldr H. Bringas from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), will lend their support to the event. Former Chief Justice Reynato S. Puno will lead NGO representatives in declaring their commitment to this crucial cause.
Distinguished speakers, including Dr. Azucena M. Dayanghirang and Former Senator Joey Lina, will share insights on battling child malnutrition. Atty. Mike T. Toledo, former Press Secretary, will moderate the event, fostering collaboration among key stakeholders dedicated to the well-being of children in their critical first 1000 days of life.
