Taiwan Expo 2026 officially opened at the SMX Convention Center Manila, bringing 125 Taiwanese companies to the Philippines to showcase technologies and products for key industries, including artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing, renewable energy, healthcare, agriculture, food, and consumer products.
Running from September 17 to 19, 2026, the three-day Taiwan Expo 2026 in the Philippines aims to strengthen business, technology, and trade partnerships between Taiwan and the Philippines. The event comes as the Philippines continues to invest in digital infrastructure, energy, healthcare, agriculture, and industrial modernization.
Taiwan Expo 2026 Highlights Smart Technology
One of the major focuses of Taiwan Expo 2026 is smart technology. Taiwanese companies are showcasing Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), AI visual recognition, collaborative robots, smart security, industrial monitoring, and transportation technologies designed to help businesses improve operations and automation.
The Smart Tech Pavilion features companies such as Techman Robot, CyberLink, and VIA Technologies. Meanwhile, the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion brings together 24 companies showcasing 50 products covering smart technology, healthcare, consumer electronics, and lifestyle products.
The growing demand for these technologies is linked to the expansion of the Philippine digital economy. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority, the country’s digital economy reached P2.74 trillion in 2025, equivalent to 9.8 percent of GDP, and supported 10.39 million jobs.
Taiwanese Energy Solutions Address Electrification and Renewable Energy Needs
Energy is another major area featured at Taiwan Expo 2026. Department of Energy data showed that around 1.55 million Philippine households remained without electricity in 2024, while the national household electrification rate was about 94.8 percent.
Taiwanese exhibitors are presenting energy solutions such as sodium-ion batteries, energy management systems, transformers, methanol-hydrogen generators, solar technologies, and decentralized power systems. These technologies could support communities where expanding traditional electricity grids remains difficult.
The Philippines is also targeting renewable energy to account for 35 percent of the country’s power generation mix by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040, creating demand for energy storage, smart grid systems, and other clean-energy technologies.
Taiwan Expo 2026 Showcases Smart Healthcare
Healthcare technology is also part of the expo, with the Smart Medical Pavilion featuring medical devices, biotechnology, regenerative medicine, and healthcare services.
The Philippine Statistics Authority reported that Philippine total health expenditure reached P1.87 trillion in 2025, increasing by 15.1 percent from the previous year. Filipino households continued to cover 41.2 percent of current health expenditure through out-of-pocket payments.
Through the Taiwan-Philippines Smart Medical Seminar, Taiwanese companies are also connecting with Philippine hospitals, healthcare institutions, and potential local business partners.
Agritech and Food Technology Take Center Stage
Agriculture is another important sector at Taiwan Expo 2026. Taiwanese companies are presenting agricultural automation, autonomous farming equipment, livestock environmental control systems, food processing technology, and post-harvest solutions.
Agriculture, forestry, and fishing accounted for 7.9 percent of Philippine GDP in 2025, while the agriculture sector employed 20.7 percent of the country’s workforce in December 2025.
The Agritech and Food Pavilion also features Taiwanese food products, including specialty teas, tapioca pearls, and processed food. The participating companies are looking for distributors, retailers, and other Philippine business partners.
Taiwan-Philippines Business Cooperation
Beyond technology and products, Taiwan Expo 2026 provides a venue for Taiwanese and Philippine companies to explore new business opportunities.
Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) Chairman James C. F. Huang emphasized the importance of trust in strengthening Taiwan-Philippines relations. Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the Philippines Representative Wallace M.G. Chow also highlighted the growing exchanges in trade, investment, and talent.
The expo also puts attention on the electronics and semiconductor industries, where Taiwan plays an important role in global manufacturing while electronic products remain a major Philippine export category.
Taiwan-Japan-Philippines Industrial Cooperation Forum
A new feature of Taiwan Expo 2026 is the Taiwan-Japan-Philippines Industrial Cooperation Forum, which brings together Taiwanese and Japanese companies with Philippine businesses.
The forum explores possible cooperation in areas such as green energy and smart cities, while connecting technology providers with Philippine system integrators, distributors, and other local partners.
Taiwan Expo 2026 is organized by Taiwan’s International Trade Administration under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and implemented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council.
The three-day event runs from September 17 to 19, 2026, at the SMX Convention Center Manila, highlighting Taiwan’s technology, healthcare, energy, agriculture, food, and lifestyle solutions for the Philippine market.
